Something new is taking shape at Ferro. We are designing and building the Ferro CB+, a new forged iron with a clear goal: bring more help into the head design while keeping the feel and black finish that are central to Ferro.
An early look behind the design
The photo above is an early development concept with design markup and provisional branding. It gives you a look inside the process; the finished CB+ is planned in black forged S20C carbon steel.
We are working around four priorities: a wider sole, perimeter weighting, a lower center of gravity and stronger lofts. These are the direction for the new design as we develop the head and refine its specifications.
A wider sole, with turf interaction in mind
The CB+ is being designed with a wider sole than our current CB. Our aim is to give golfers more support through the turf and a head that feels easier to play when contact is not perfect.
Width is only part of that design. The sole shape and how the leading edge moves through the ground matter too. The goal is a sole that works through the shot, rather than simply making the club look larger.
Perimeter weighting: stability is the goal
Perimeter weighting means positioning more of the head’s mass around its outer areas. For CB+, the intention is to build in more stability when the strike moves away from the center of the face.
For the golfer, the goal is more consistent results from everyday swings—including the ones that miss the middle. That is a design objective we will evaluate through development and testing.
Lower CG and stronger lofts, designed together
CG stands for center of gravity: the point where the head’s mass balances. We are working toward a lower CG in CB+ alongside stronger lofts.
The aim is to pair distance potential with a flight that remains useful on the course. We want to evaluate the whole shot: launch, carry, spin, landing and consistency. A longer shot matters most when you can control where it finishes.
Final lofts and measured performance will follow as the design progresses.
Black forged S20C steel
CB+ is planned as a forged S20C carbon-steel iron with a black finish. It continues the material direction of the Ferro family while giving us room to develop a different head profile.
Our goal is a solid, responsive impact feel in a design that offers golfers more help. The finished appearance, details and specifications will be shared as development moves forward.
Who are we designing CB+ for?
CB+ is being developed for golfers who want a forged iron and prefer a wider sole with a greater emphasis on forgiveness. It will add another choice alongside MC and CB, giving players another profile to consider for their game.
